Hello!

I'm using BLOGGERS WERE CHILDREN TOO! for my theme this year. I hope you're enjoying reading about bloggers, some you know and some you may not yet know, as they respond to some prompts I sent out. 

Before we get started today, a few words about Blogger and what I've found. I've seen many comments on the changes so this is my take so far:

• Even though blogger moved you to a new interface, you can 'revert to the old blogger' by clicking a button when you find it. I've done it several times and now am happily using the old interface as I can never find easily where to 'edit posts'. I think blogger will let us keep using the old interface, just the way you can keep using the old templates if you want.
• When blogger gets around to changing your blog main page, don't panic. Just go into Design, Template Designer, choose a Template, then Adjust Widths and columns and eventually you'll have your old look back. But you'll have to add your skin again probably.
• Those who've chosen to use Google+ as their link are missing out on visits. I use my phone more and more to comment on blogs. I can't navigate (or I'm not willing to waste my time) around Google+ on my phone. It's hard enough to find your blog link on Google+ on the computer. I toyed with this but quickly went back to the blogger profile.
• And those hideous Captcha Codes! Forget about comments, especially when I'm using my phone. Do check in Settings, Comments, and turn Word Verification off if you want comments as some bloggers said they never added them, google did.

I enjoyed the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival when it came around each year. Calypso (recently Soca too), costumes, stickfighting and limbo competitions. Carnival was created when the indentured laborers and slaves who saw the French celebrating in costume and mimicked them while combining aspects from their own cultures (predominantly African). MY BEST CHILDHOOD MEMORY IS: Being told old time stories by my dad before he passed away. 

MY WORST CHILDHOOD MEMORY IS: When I fell off a bike and ended up with a lump in my head

TODAY I LIVE IN: Pennsylvania, USA

I WAS BORN IN:  Calgary, Alberta, Canada

I GREW UP IN: The North, South East and South West of England. Yes my parents moved a lot and no my Dad wasn't in the army.

MY FAVOURITE HOME WAS IN: While I absolutely adore Canada, I have pangs of nostalgia about living in The City of Bath, UK, with its glorious white stone buildings and affluent atmosphere.

MY BEST CHILDHOOD MEMORY IS: Walks in the countryside in Burton-in-the-Wirral with my family; or magical Christmases and Easter Egg Hunts before Church.

MY WORST CHILDHOOD MEMORY IS: Being bullied by many females I encountered.

TODAY I LIVE IN: South Devon,  UK

PROUDEST WRITER MOMENT: Holding my first published non-fiction article in the national magazine, Doll.

RANDOM FACT ABOUT ME: I've always loved dark chocolate.

Some more about Madeleine:

I read and try out lots of different genres. Having started my writing blog in Aug 2010 I have had lots of fun practising prose, poetry and haiku as well as flash fiction. I love decent coffee and textile crafts and also love writing and creating her own books and magazines.

I have had 16 articles published in National/International Magazines and some haiku accepted for online and magazine publication. I also produced my own Cloth Figure Quaterly magazine for 4 issues and designed 4 websites. Visit my blog Scribble and Edit here.

Yesterday was Ms Queenly

Today:     R is for Romance Book Paradise (Nas Dean)

I WAS BORN IN:  Lautoka City in the beautiful Island country of Fiji. Most people know it as just a dot in the South Pacific.

I GREW UP IN:  Lautoka City.

MY FAVOURITE HOME WAS IN: Lautoka with my parents.

MY BEST CHILDHOOD MEMORY IS:  Going to watch horse races, car races and rough terrain four wheel drive races with my Dad. Can you tell I'm an adrenalin junkie now and love watching races? I only wish I could make it to Melbourne Cup one year. 

MY WORST CHILDHOOD MEMORY IS: When my mum died leaving two small daughters and a five year old son. Only one elder sister was already married so she stepped in and helped our dad bring us up.

TODAY I LIVE IN:    Nadi. It's known as the jet-setTourist town of Fiji It's also home to many 5 star International hotels and resort chains. I live just minutes away from the Nadi International Airport- the gateway to the Pacific Island countries.

Today is a short post, but I hope you'll treat yourself and visit Peter's blog. Awesome:

P is for Peter's Paris

I was born in Gothenburg (Göteborg), Sweden.

… and grew up at the same place.

My favorite home was – still is – in Paris.

My best childhood memory is when I, at the age of 8, during summer holidays proudly worked as lock keeper in a small canal in Sweden (while the official one took some rest).

My worst childhood memories involve some broken arms from ice hockey matches – no protection those days.

Today (since 1974) I live in Paris.

I’m still waiting for my proudest writer moment.

Retired since 2007 when I started blogging. Happy to be retired and to have so many new friends through blogging, to have the time and to be able to travel, to be baby-sitter for my grandkids… .
