ANYA RICHARDS tells us about Bellissima. Release Day Blitz...and Crystal Collier...and let's have those ghost stories...

Yikes! I just hit PUBLISH by mistake on my vampire story for Halloween!! Sorree! Ignore!

Hello all!

It seems everyone is publishing a new book at the moment and everyone wants to tell us about it.

Today I welcome multi-published author Anya Richards to my blog as part of her blog tour presented by Romance Book Haven.

Thank you so much for inviting me to be here today, Denise!

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Anya Richards, author of a wide variety of erotic romance and erotica titles, some under my other penname, Anya Delvay. In my catalogue you’ll find contemporary, historical, paranormal/fantasy and M/M titles… I go wherever the muse leads me, because I’m easy that way *grin*!

A transplant, I’m very thankful for the wide experiences life has given me, since they’re all used as fodder for my books. Originally from the Caribbean, I’ve traveled a fair amount and now live in Canada. After a slew of jobs, from vet assistant to jewelry sales, I’ve settled into the role of part time law clerk and author, with the author job definitely taking precedence, especially in my heart.

I look for inspiration wherever I can find it. I love nature and am incredibly curious about pretty much everything, especially what makes people tick. Really and truly, that’s what lies at the very heart of every good book, movie, story—no matter how many explosions there are, how many murders, or bouts of sex, or car chases, if we don’t sort of understand and feel for the characters, it all falls flat. A good book really doesn’t need a lot of fluff if it has soul!

My usual modus operandi when I want to write is to chase everyone away and turn on some music. Of course my cats think that’s the perfect time to want affection, and I’m such a sucker I can’t chase them away, so I’ve become a competent one-handed typist. When I first started writing I needed silence, but now prefer music or something I can sort of ignore on the TV in the background. I wish I could say I can write anywhere, but I’ve learned I can’t write love scenes when I’m in public… even when I know no one can see the computer screen!

Writing quite simply completes me. It’s both a journey I’m compelled to take and a release from life’s stress. It allows me to live out some fantasies and is a way to get the characters to stop bugging the heck out of me by telling their stories. Writing is also a way for me to try to make sense of the world, and give sad stories a happy ending. And I think that’s something we all need to see regularly…

Bellissima Blurb:

Jane Rollins is anything but plain, but to keep her position as housekeeper to a wealthy family, she is content to hide her beauty behind a dull façade. This deception has become second-nature to her—until dance master Sergio Fontini waltzes into her life.
Photo
While the other inhabitants of the house see him as a foreigner and beneath their notice, Jane sees strength, barely leashed power, and an aura of iron control—an irresistible, arousing combination.

Sergio sees through Jane’s disguise to the woman beneath, and the desires in her veiled gaze call to him like the utterly irresistible strains of a beautiful symphony. The circumstances couldn’t be worse, for seducing her will endanger both their livelihoods.

Yet there are lessons he cannot resist teaching her, steps of a dance that crescendos to her final surrender…

Congratulations, Crystal!
Anya, not my type of read, but I wish you luck.
Adura's post was unique. Maybe that's what makes the difference.

As someone who just did a blog tour, and hosts them, I can attest that they are necessary. I tried to make each one different with a bonus or question if the host asked for a spotlight instead of an interview or guest post.

Anyway...Conflagrations, Anya! I wish you the best of luck with Bellissima!

And congratulations to Crystal! I can't wait to read Soulless!

Congratulations to Anya on her historical romance and congratulations to Crystal on her release!

Blog tours and book launches are part of the set up Denise. If there were no tours and no launches how would we know about new books? We need to help authors do book launches so that new books gets exposed to newer and even more readers!

Thanks for posting about Anya and Crystal's books!

Hi Kelly! And thanks for the RTs!

Thanks for coming by, Jo. Not everyone likes the same genres!

Thanks for visiting!

Yep, I know Nas. That's why I call it a necessary evil...well, maybe 'evil' is a bit strong, but I'd love to see a new way of doing book launches--maybe more like Alex Cavanaugh does on his blog--put a whole list on and you can troll down the list, choosing those you're interested in?

It's great when a blog tour is different. It's always nice when there's a giveaway, but those rafflecopters aren't everyone's cup of tea...too time consuming. I just like to hear about the book then I will decide to buy it or not.

Nice summing up Alex.

I like to write to background noise also Anya. Nice to meet you.

Congrats also to Crystal.

Hi Denise; hope you have some big plans for coming birthday. Lots of Halloween blogfests, but I am hoping to get something wrote, or at least reposted for WEP.

Denise Covey said...

Hey Donna! The birthday has come and gone (9th) and I had a wow of a time. Hope yours is as good!!

I hope you get something wrote for the Ghostly prompt. Should be right up your alley! I'm revamping my vampish bar story from 2011!

Congrats to Anya and Crystal. So excited for them both! And yes, we all need to help in our own ways. Good idea to share about both book releases today.

Hi Denise! A hearty congrats to Anya and Crystal!!

Adura Ojo said...

Congrats, Crystal and Anya. Wishing you both tons of sales and I look forward to reading your books.

Hi Denise! You may have your hand on the pulse there...about poetry. People love to read and make sense of the lines and then they love it:) Have a great week!

You're right, Denise. Blog tours I think can be done better but for the mean time, helping out our author friends is always a nice thing to do. Congrats to Crystal and Anya. Hope to read your books some time.

Denise, hope to be able to participate again in this month's WEP (that is, if I think of something. Horror's not exactly my cup of tea :)

Every stop of a blog tour should be different. That takes effort though and many authors are lazy.

Anya Richards said...

Thank you, Alex, and thank goodness we all don't like the same thing, because the world would be a lot more boring!

Anya Richards said...

I agree, Chrys, on the necessity, but can understand how wearying they can be on readers if they frequent all the blogs the author is on! In this age of social media driving sales, being seen as much as possible is crucial, but tiring :)

Anya Richards said...

Nope Denise, I agree on the 'evil', to be honest, but the whole point is to widen the audience for a book or author, and tours are just one of the ways to do it. I think nowadays people get information from so many different places, and in so many different ways, it's necessary for authors to spread themselves around (so to speak) in an attempt to get noticed.

Anya Richards said...

Thank you Kelly! And thank you for the Tweets :)

Anya Richards said...

I have to try so hard to find something that won't capture my attention, Donna, rather than just staying background noise! Some days it's hard...

Anya Richards said...

How lovely of you to say so, Trisha! Thank you!

Anya Richards said...

Best of luck and sales to you Crystal! Your books sound amazing!

Anya Richards said...

Thank you, Natalie!

Anya Richards said...

Sounds like you're in a good place, being optimistically existential! Thank you so much for the congrats!

Anya Richards said...

Thank you so much Adura! I like that Denise features a wide variety of genres, and think that poetry has gotten a bad rep. It can be one of the most beautiful art forms and, just like every other genre, offers something for everyone, if you take the time to look for what speaks to you!

Anya Richards said...

Thank you, Anne. Blog tours are, like everything else in this crazy business, evolving, I think. But it's almost an obligation for authors to do something to help promote their books... keeps the publishers (if they have one) happy!

Anya Richards said...

That would be optimal, Diane, but not every blog owner asks for something different. Some prefer to just post the bare bones promotional information, rather than saying, "I'd like this type of post." *shrug* I think you'd find most authors will give bloggers whatever they ask for. Thank you for stopping by!

cleemckenzie said...

I'm still not convinced the blog tour does much for sales. Wish there were studies to confirm they do or don't. It would be very helpful to know..

Denise Covey said...

Anne...hope you make it for WEP. Horror is not my favorite either, but it's fun to do once a year. :)

Denise Covey said...

I guess authors are busy. But I love it when they take the time to comment as Anya is doing. Some comment once or twice if at all. Won't win any friends that way. If you're going to do a blog tour, readers expect dedication.

Denise Covey said...

Me too. I've often thought of asking, surveying a group of authors, but it would be hard for them to say too I guess.

The Armchair Squid said...

Congrats to Anya and Crystal!

Anya Richards said...

Personally, I don't do blog tours with an eye specifically toward immediate sales, although of course that's the hoped-for final result. If a tour gains me a few more readers who enjoy my book and will recognize my name another time (or maybe even be inclined to look at my back list) or I make an amazing new contact, I think of it as time and money well spent. This race isn't for the sprinters, but the stayers!

Anya Richards said...

Thank you! Awesome name BTW :)

Hi Denise ... we agreed re Blog Tours 'nuff said!

But good luck to Crystal and Anya .. I'll have to check out Elsie's post, after Alex's comment .. cheers Hilary

Likewise! Thanks, Anya.
