Hello everyone!
Here we go with Alex J Cavanaugh's newest release, CassaStorm. The blog world will be taken by storm. When the dust settles, Alex will be giving away something special-- a Cassa mug, mousepad, magnet, and swag! to a lucky, random commenter on his blog this week.
Those who know me well, know science fiction isn't my first love, but I read widely, so the occasional sci-fi title falls into my hands. But as Alex knows, I think he's a little short on romance and female characters, so when he asked for a question to accompany this blog post, of course my question was:
Alex, you know I thought CassaStar was short on female roles. Is there romance in CassaStorm?
Denise, there was a romance in CassaFire, which is when fans were introduced to Athee. She’s still present in CassaStorm, but the story focuses more on the parent-to-child relationship.
So there you go...
CassaStorm
From the Amazon Best Selling Series!
A storm gathers across the galaxy…
Commanding the Cassan base on Tgren, Byron thought he’d put the days of battle behind him. As a galaxy-wide war encroaches upon the desert planet, Byron’s ideal life is threatened and he’s caught between the Tgrens and the Cassans.
After enemy ships attack the desert planet, Byron discovers another battle within his own family. The declaration of war between all ten races triggers nightmares in his son, threatening to destroy the boy’s mind.
Meanwhile the ancient alien ship is transmitting a code that might signal the end of all life in the galaxy. And the mysterious probe that almost destroyed Tgren twenty years ago could return. As his world begins to crumble, Byron suspects a connection. The storm is about to break, and Byron is caught in the middle…
“Cavanaugh has created wonderfully moving moments of great poignancy… CassaStorm could have been a dark story full of hardship and angst, but instead it's a cleverly balanced story about hope and triumph.”
- Lynda R. Young, author of Make Believe
“I thought the revelation was going to be one thing and I was completely wrong … CassaStorm pushes the limits…”
- Tyson Mauermann, Speculative Reviews

Denise, thank you! Hopefully you find more romantic elements in the second two books. I even have a kissing scene. Yes - me!!
Yes, I have read the first and second books. I thought the addition of Athee added much to the second book.
I asked Alex if there were any old flames in Athee's past, but the answer was: men do not care to know about their woman's past. Hmmm. I can read a lot into that.
Best of luck to Alex!
Another huge congrats to Alex!!! I'm super happy for him.
Woo hoo! Well done Alex!
I'm glad you agree about Athee D.G. Thought it was only me! A few old flames would add a certain pizazz.
Gidday Denise,
Before I crash out from exhaustion, I thought it was about time to visit your excellent site.
It's terrific to note the release of Alex's third book. Well done to the ninja dude.
And Denise, wishing you well with the WEP Blogfest.
Time zones...time for some sleep or find another clone.
Gary :)
I think I'll like the family drama focus. But I agree with you Denise, there should be more romance :)
......dhole
I do have Alex's first book on my Kindle, but haven't had a chance to get to it yet. Sounds like there must have been some romance in book 2 if there's a kid in book 3 ;)
I'm sure this will be a huge success, Alex is the king when it comes to promoting a book!
Isn't he though? But I'm sure he's worked hard to have so many followers willing to promote him.
Congrats to Alex! I'm sure his latest will rock the charts!
And thanks for the Like. I'm a little slow about this marketing stuff. Guess it's because I just don't like doing it, my shy side. I've got until the end of the month until Rachel formats so am going over and over A-Z, hoping to get it right as LA's history is all over the place. So want the basic stuff and fun tid-bits. BTW, saw another fab nature piece on tv the other night about Australia. You definitely live in a slice of heaven. (I wish we had the good sense to adopt your gun control laws so the senseless killings here would stop.)
I'm sure CassaStorm will do well. Alex has given it a bang of a start. I'm gonna sign up for moving on and remind myself to get something written. This challenge is a good way to get bits and pieces of stories written. You know the ones that aren't getting any attention? :)
Hi Denise!
I have a hunch we'll be seeing a lot of Alex and CassaStorm over the next few weeks. Yay for Alex!!
Congratulations to Alex and Cassa Storm. Sounds awesome.
Thanks Denise.

Great question Denise! A little romance adds so much to a book, but with a kid in book three - I think your wish was granted! This has been one amazing debut! The virtual CassaStorm has hit the blogosphere in a true massive wave!
You're welcome Kittie. I'd hate the marketing stuff too but it has to be done I guess. Looking forward to reading your next tome.
Glad you are such a fan of Oz. Yes, I'm certainly glad we have excellent gun laws. Just have a few renegade bikies who use guns, but rarely a 'normal' citizen. I can't believe the US on this. Naturally, Australians were completely flummoxed and saddened when our young man was shot in Alabama while out jogging. What the?
Glad to have you back on board this month Joy. Yes, that's usually what i use for snippets but ATM I'm trying my hand a writing a novel this way. Why not?
Alex is covering the universe today. Why am I not surprised.
I've read both books so far. I liked the 2nd one the best. It stands to reason that Cassastorm will be the best one of all.

A Faraway View
Hi, Denise,
Good question. I am FINALLY reading Alex's first book. Like you, SF is not my first choice to read, but out of respect for Alex, I decided it was time.
I enjoy a female role in books, so this journey through Alex's novel will be an interesting first for me.
Hope you are well.
I can type again...YAY... cast came off today. Now another month with a removable splint....
Need to get back to my novella... only have a few days. LOL.
