#fridayflash - The Muse

The Muse

I lie on my bed, shivering with anticipation. I feel a jolt. It is about to happen. I relax. Muscle by muscle. Let my eyelids droop.
There it is.
Out of the corner of my half-closed eye comes a flash of light that does not diffuse. It lies arrested before me like a huge puffy cloud.
I wait. My senses adjust.
Then I see them.
Stepping from the clouds like aristocrats returning from the Prince’s ball they come, the heightened thoughts and imaginings, richly attired for the occasion.
Scarcely daring to breathe, I open my notebook and begin to write…

Hope you enjoyed it...Denise

  4. Your intro about "getting it" made me overthink it! The story seems pretty natural to me, about somebody trying to unwind enough to receive inspiration and write. Did I get it?

  5. And the inspiration comes...

    Very lovely.

You once came into my blog and became a follower. I think I reciprocated, but maybe on one of you other blogs. I like this once. Very nice.

  10. So true, you have to let yourself go and not over think your writing. If you think too much about how to do something you cant do it.

  13. Great description. I love it when the muse wakes me up -- although I have to admit I've never thought of it quite that way before :) Thanks for sharing!
